Glenn Akers

Dr. Akers is a pioneer and expert in the application of linguistics to natural language computer systems following his graduate work at Harvard’s Department of Linguistics and MIT’s Research Laboratory of Electronics. 


Dr. Akers’ research on linguistic variation led to deployment of the first  speaker independent speech recognition system,

Dr. Akers is a pioneer and expert in the application of linguistics to natural language computer systems following his graduate work at Harvard’s Department of Linguistics and MIT’s Research Laboratory of Electronics. 


Dr. Akers’ research on linguistic variation led to deployment of the first  speaker independent speech recognition system, developed for the US Federal Aviation Administration, while he was at Verbex (Dialog Systems), an Exxon Office Systems company.


At Bell Northern Research, Dr. Akers developed efficient and naturalistic intonation algorithms for English text-to-speech.


 At Digital Equipment Corporation (DEC), Dr. Akers developed their Spanish DECTalk text-to-speech system.


As Director of Language Research at Kurzweil AI, Dr. Akers was the language system architect of the world’s first automatic dictation system, and he lead the international technical and business development of its applications in areas such as  in medical transcription.


In 1985, Dr. Akers founded Language Engineering Corporation (LEC) to develop highly accurate machine translation systems, initially for English to Japanese.


In 1990, LEC formed LogoVista Corporation, a Japanese joint venture company, with Catena Corporation, with LEC providing the AI translation products for LogoVista to market and support. LogoVista became the Japanese market leader for machine translation after LEC completed development of its first product in 1992.


Dr. Akers is Chief Executive Office of LEC. LEC is a leading suppier of machine translation software and services sold worldwide under the Power Translator and Translate brands.

Dylan drives company growth through innovative solutions, and achieves measurable financial improvements.


As a CONTRACT SPECIALIST, COMMERCIAL OPERATIONS at

Hologic Sales and Service, LLC Marlborough, MA from 2021-2024,

 Dylan negotiated and created sales contracts to enhance client relationships and ensure compliance. He lead commercial contracting in the Northeast, boosting collaboration and achieving regional goals.

He implemented service de-installation processes, improving efficiency and internal practices.

He developed contracting resources, fostering growth in body composition business.


In 2020-2021 as a LAW CLERK in BUSINESS LAW at

Aceto, Bonner & Cole Boston, MA, Dylan conducted legal research, ensuring  business law compliance while providing strategic client guidance.

He drafted key legal documents, and advised startups on legal frameworks, fostering growth and regulatory adherence.


As a LEGAL INTERN in 2020 - 2021 at Major Bloom Worcester, MA, Dylan managed contract review, ensuring compliance and improving legal operations for dispensaries. He developed strategies with the President, enhancing market plans and operational efficiency. He created  solutions for regulatory challenges, streamlining compliance processes. He implemented a contract management system, reducing review time and increasing document accuracy.
